Last week I had the honor of speaking at the Magnetic Speaker event in Orlando, Florida.
The best part of events like this is always the people.
I met people who are gifted in a variety of specialties: From healing people from severe migraines, to overcoming death and loss, teaching others how to write a book, create a multi-million dollar business, bring together a global community of women, and more.
But one common question often popped up, which was:
“How do I put ‘it’ all together? There are so many things to do when running a business that helps people while trying to make enough money for myself!”
There are SO many steps in this journey, and one misstep at the wrong time can mean the difference between struggling for years and losing tons of money or finally reaching your highest level of success.
But never fear…here’s your answer, more clear than ever:
1. Where do I start and what do I do first?
Ok, I’ll just be blunt: You need to focus on making MONEY first or the rest of running your business will be a struggle. Money doesn’t solve all of your problems but as it costs money to help a lot of people, you should focus on serving a group of people that you like helping and that will pay you. Since you are already skilled in your own specific area, you should use a system that helps you double your prices IMMEDIATELY, or else you’re wasting your time and money developing other areas of your business too soon.
2. As you focus on making money…focus on YOU and make yourself a priority again
This means doing a deep dive into who you are, your passions, your purpose and your skills. Learn how to align the best of everything you are so that you can turn it into 1 signature brand that will put you on the map. This brand forms the basis of all your revenue streams (more about this in a bit) as you will be known as THE person to go to for … [fill in the blank with what you want to be known for…you should decide this first or else the critics out there will decide for you].
3. Scientifically study your tribe (i.e. Niche or core audience) – No more guessing!
You need to know who your clients are and what they need, even better than they know themselves. Research their problems and dreams in a scientific way so that you have the hard data to use in your marketing materials. This practically makes your business fail proof and guarantees your success and makes them feel like you really get them (but you’re using their own words back at them!).
4. Align your messaging & signature brand with ALL of your revenue streams and business choices
This gives you clarity, confidence and prevents you from spinning reinventing the wheel. You’ll have 80% of your content created for your promotional materials, sales funnels, trainings, social media, and media pitches. Each different medium needs tweaking as the audience is different for each…there is no one sized shoe that fits all! But this gives you a solid and strong foundation as your business grows.
5. Keep your cool as you balance more than you thought you could before
The path to have more free time and making money doing what you love does NOT get easier. The key to mastery is learning how to keep your cool as new challenges arise. Waiting until you have everything “perfectly prepared” doesn’t exist, because YOU are your own product. So start NOW getting your highest paying clients and paychecks ever…keep pushing outside of your comfort zone on your terms or else the path will push you out instead or your profits and success just won’t happen.
